This, that, and the other

Hello from sweltering central Texas!

In an effort not to melt like the wicked witch of the west, I’m staying indoors and putting needle to cloth, dachshund firmly ensconced in what’s left of my lap, cool beverage by my side.

His Army Awesomeness reported to his first duty station and The Diva completed her freshman year of high school back in May. Himself turned a year older, we celebrated my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, and Himself and I celebrated our 22nd.

On the home front, we got hit by lightning in April…hello busted pipes, blown breaker box, and traumatized dachshund. Goodbye to our 30 year old hunter green carpet and linoleum…hello new vinyl, carpet, and paint! It’s finally finished.

There’s been progress on the sewing front as I’ve completed piecing three rag quilts. I’m saving the trimming part for the beach in September. Isn’t that what you want to work on at a beach retreat…flannel?! Yikes.

I finished a couple of cross stitch pieces. The first I won from a drawing by Stephanie and Stephannie (yes, you read that right) of Snarky Stitch and Quilt. Find ’em on Flosstube!

The pattern is from Lizzie ⭐️ Kate. I added the star buttons for a little bling. Thanks again, ladies ❤️

My second finish is from Mosey ‘n Me.

I’m not sure how I’ll finish either of these out, but I’ve been watching Priscilla and Chelsea on Flosstube so there’s no shortage of ideas.

My final finish isn’t fabric related at all. About a year back, The Diva was on an origami kick and made me several cranes. I’d been debating what to do with them and came up with this…

It hangs over the bed in the sewing room and I love it. It’s a little wonky, but they’re out of the box and all her hard work is on display.

What’ve you been doing lately?

Until next time 👋🏻

  1. You and the Diva are truly talented and I admire you both. I am lucky if I can sew on a button. And I am sooooooooo jealous of the dog on your lap!!

    • Thanks, Shirley! I thought it was super thoughtful of The Diva and you should’ve seen the smile on the officer’s face. At least you can sew on a button. That’s a lot more than I can say for some folks. As for that dog…smh

  2. Life is sounding good for you although with all those celebrations and events, I am sure there were some frenetic moments! Stay cool girl!
