The F.S.H. Quilt

It was a productive weekend at Casa Imperfect in terms of quilting.  What, you think I did responsible adult stuff like clean, cook and do laundry?  Don’t you know me?!

I took my Mama to breakfast and then we spent the remainder of Saturday sewing away at my dining room table.  Of course, we had to take the requisite trip into town to take in the sights at the local quilt shop.  It was a chore, but someone had to it.

She finished a rag quilt and I finished the F.S.H. quilt…that’s Fat Suburban Housewife.  Sorry, the name just stuck.

Here’s The Diva doing her Vanna imitation and showing it off…

I mentioned all this in a previous post so don’t think I’m getting senile, but…I used leftover 2 1/2″ strips I’d cut from fat quarters then pieced them end to end just as if I was making a Jelly Roll Race quilt.  I’d like to say it went faster, but I’d be lying.  I’d also like to say I like it as well as a top using Jelly Roll strips, but I really don’t.  The upside, however, is that I used up a lot of strips that were taking up valuable storage space.

Enjoy your Monday…it’s gonna happen anyway!

  1. Definitely making this! I like it much better than a regular jelly roll race quilt. The colors on mine just blend together so much i’m thinking of appliquing flowers on it. Cuz it is boring! Must be the shorter strip lengths that make it look better. Or is it the variety? Hmm. I guess I’ll have to study this on the big screen.
The Diva is cuter than Vanna.

    • I still think too many of the colors wound up right next to one another, but maybe the variety has something to do with it, too. It’s a good way to use up scraps that’s for sure. And thank you, I’ll tell The Diva she’s cuter than Vanna…will that chick EVER retire?!
